Music has always been an important part of my life. My fondest childhood memories were shaped by the opportunities that I had to play the violin and tuba in various school ensembles, including orchestra, concert band, jazz band, and marching band.
These days, I am learning to play the Great Highland bagpipe, Irish uilleann pipes, tin whistle, and recorder. I keep a digital practice log here.
Highlights
- Tuesday, August 1st, 2023: I received my Maverick practice chanter. A great piping gadget, this day was also the soft-launch of my renewed committing to piping. I unfortunately hadn’t picked up the pipes much in a couple of years, and I’m excited to make a plan over the next few months to join a band and also compete in the EUSPBA competitive solo circuit.
- Monday, July 31st, 2023: My first private recorder lesson. I’m looking forward to many more and to get involved with the New York Recorder Guild (NYRG).
